Recently got 10 year GC approved (marriage to USC).

When can I apply for US Citizenship?

Do I need to submit same documents as for I-751?

Did you use attorney for this process? (-751 completed without attorney).

Thanks.

Ha, my attorney didn't want anything to do with the I-751 and N-400, we deal on a flat fee basis, and he said I would be pestering him every five minutes with progress reports.

He did help me with some of the more nebulous questions on the N-400 however that have been debated on this board seemingly forever. Unless you can read the mind of your potential IO, you will never answer these questions they way they want you too. Just don't worry about it.

The N-400 is one of the easiest applications to complete in this whole process - you definitely don't need a lawyer to do it. There is an excellent document at the USCIS website called 'A Guide to Naturalization" . It contains everything you need to know, including a check list of documents that you will need to include. The supporting documents are actually quite minimal and you have the opportunity to bring additional documents to the interview.

You can apply for Naturalization 90 days prior to the 3rd anniversary of getting your original green card as long as you have already been married 3 years when you submit the application. There are also residency requirements and physical presence requirements (which are detailed in The Guide to Naturalization).

Here is the link to the Guide To Naturalization. You should also read over the actual N-400 application and the information. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0000ecd190aRCRD
