Has anyone filled out a form I-90 (think thats the number) for a lost green card? I´m trying to get an idea on how long it would take for my wife to recieve her green card.

Somewhere between her POE in Miami in mid October and Jan. 29th at our infopass appt. her visa packet (the mysterious envelope with our whole history) was lost. The agent had us fill out a I-90 for a lost green card. Looked like a form to order a green card and we had to give 2 new passport photos. However, he had no idea how long it would take for her to recieve the actual green card under these circumstances.

Any ideas?

Her visa has an expiration date at the end of march (CR1) though it is actually good untill mid october as her temp I551 (endorsed oct. 14th on original entry). However the airline employees we have encountered since then can´t seem to read the language clearly written that she is a resident and view the page only as a visa. I am expecting problems when trying to leave Costa Rica in mid april because they don´t know how to read. Really hope she has her green card by then.

Just recieved her SS card last week, a week after applying at the SS admin.

The card was never really produced so it can't be lost.

I suggest you contact your congressman's office and speak with immigration specialist. They may get the POE to look for the lost brown envelope and then issue the green card. You should not have to pay for the green card as you have already paid it.

I had a similar problem in that my GC was never produced even after 6 months of activating the CR-1 visa. You can pm me for more info on how we took care of this (congressman helped a lot!).

Your wife is good in the meantime with the stamped visa - which is now a temp green card.
