K3 Visa Process in New Delhi, India

Hi guys,

My Fiance's interview is over and generally it went very well. They asked her some questions about me (Job, residence, how did we meet?, when do we plan on getting married?). All the paperwork was in order except one thing - A document from the local passport office verifying that her passport is original. It was mentioned on Packet 4 however we didn't get it because her passport was made within the last year. We took a chance because everything else was in order including the police record but they put her visa on hold.

Now, she has to submit the document before they issue her the visa.

THE GOOD NEWS IS.......... that the officer told her that everything is in order and that visa will be issued as soon as she submits the passport document.

Therefore, anyone who is going through New Delhi needs to make sure that they have ALL the documents including the passport and the police records. If we had completed the document, she would have had her visa.

Just an FYI! Good luck.

Thanks,

vishrit

P.S. - I meant the K1 visa. The heading says K3 in error

Hi,

Congratulations. My interview was on 27 July and it went very smooth at New Delhi. I had one query, did you deposited 100$/demand draft at the cashier counter. And after depositing did you get two receipts one having customer copy and other US department state copy. Did you returned that slip back to Consular Officer.

Alright... Let me see if I can answer all the questions. Please forgive me if I miss your question.

Not necessarily in order!

1: The passport verification document is required from all individuals.

2: I didn't go to India for the interview. I wish I could but just got a new job so couldn't go. Besides, the American Citizen or for that matter anyone else cannot enter the embassy. If you go there, you will be asked to wait outside.

3: She got two recepits..... gave one to the Embassy and kept one herself.

4: The wait between when the NVC forwarded the case to India and the interview was 1 month and 30 days!

Thank you all for the best wishes. Hope your process goes smoothly too!

Take care,

- vishrit

A Passport verification Document and a document saying that her passport is original is the same thing.
