Well clearly you need to read the numbers.

In many cases it's not as much "moving them right" as it is replacing them with someone who is on the Right. Even John McCain is looking over his shoulder.

At any rate I think you will agree..... Anyway you cut it, every movement is in a rightward shift.

Some on the far Left moving to the middle and those in the middle going Right.

Kinda gives you hope no?

This movement is not about moving rightward in any way. Its about attempting to make the right more "pure", by rejecting or forcing out conservatives who are not. This will leave the alienated moderates without a party other than the democrats.

You don't win elections in this country by supporting a narrow ideology. Your appeal will be too limited. Both Republicans and Democrats are coalitions between several groups, with generally similar priorities, or at least priorities that don't conflict as much. At the moment, the Republican party is dealing with a power vacuum and there is a struggle as to who will lead and set the tone of the party for its next generation. If the tea party wins, it will be a small and ever shrinking party as they will reject any ideology that is not pure. If the moderates win, they are going to have to reconcile the conservative wing of the party in order to keep a coalition strong enough to win elections.

The industrial north used to be very Republican, and the south very Democrat. Its that not the values of the people have changed, its that what the parties represent has changed.

Tancredo is just another loud mouthed ignoramus with a microphone.

A bigoted pink man, all huff and puff and bluster. The only thing going for him is public speaking, even if he does err on the side of the market grocer style of oratory.
