Hey Folks,

I wanted to know after my fiance and I get married and change her name, will her old passport be valid in the interview after filing for AOS? We currently have copies of everything and ready to go but i'm concerned that they will not accept it because it has her original name still on the passport? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!

Dave

After we got married and before we took any trips, we visited my wife's consulate where they wanted to maintain her maiden name due to a long string of other stuff, but they put a stamp in with her new married name.

It almost was like a visit to the USCIS, she is natural born in Colombia, naturalized in Venezuela, divorced in Venezuela, and married in the USA, so we had to bring in all that paper work with apostiles and also registered our marriage in Venezuela at the same time.

Why did we go through this? Simple, coming back, her passport had her maiden name with our marriage stamp, my name as her husband was in it too. And her green card had her married name. At the POE, was no problem as the inspector could see why her passport had her maiden name on it with the married name stamped in and sealed while her green card showed her married name. His comment was we did everything right, welcome back to the USA.
