Who cares if GW is real or not, what are you doing to be less dependent on fossil fuels?

One of my fav. people is Ed Begley, he is a bit of an oddball and cheapskate but has some really good tips on living a sustainable life. Switching the light bulbs you use in your house or putting up solar panels, there are ways we can all do something to help America be less dependent on fossil fuels (especially since most of it is coming from the Middle East). It would be great if we can share some ideas and keep this positive, by that I mean no insults or politics please!

Van pool. 10 people share a van to work. 30 miles from the parking lot to work.

All my bulbs are CFC and some are LED.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

I drive my 3/4 ton truck 2 miles down the road to buy a newspaper so I can start the wood stove, burning logs from my backyard trees. I am doing my part to cut down on natural gas usage!

And here I thought you were a real cowboy who rode his horse everywhere! :wow:

Is anyone concerned that America is dependent on oil from the Middle East?

Oil is oil. Doesn't matter where it comes from - it's a global commodity.

That said, less than 20% of America's oil imports come from the Middle East.

I think being less dependent on fossil fuel or the government/municipality for tha matter in general is a good idea with many benefits, not just one thing such as environmentalism or patriotism etc.

I don't give a ѕhit about our dependence on fossil fuels. The sooner we deplete the middle east's only source of wealth the better.

the source of wealth is being bought however, isn't it? that's $'s going over there needlessly IMO.

without natural resources, how long do you think their stash of petrodollars is gonna last? how long till their restive populations go completely nuts (as opposed to their current state of partial nuttiness)? bring it on, i say. the west has something the middle east does not... a real renewable resource: a culture that rewards innovation!

depleting their natural resources is a worthy national security goal.

 The man understands! The sooner they go back to herding goats, the sooner things will settle down, and we can get back to the important things, like midget porn!
