The US can still manufacture cars, heavy equipment, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, etc. We could also branch off into many other areas but it would not be cost effective due to the higher labor costs. We certainly are capable of more, but the bottom line of dollars and cents won't allow it.

We need to test new industrial zones where all environmental and labor regulations do not apply. See if that helps.

If everyone was confined by a standard set of labor and environmental standards, then the playing field would be more even and we wouldn't see so many U.S. manufacturing moving overseas or south of the border in search of cheap labor and less environmental restrictions.

technology continues to reduce labor needs while at the same time the population is greatly increasing is counter to ???? (what is the word i'm looking for?).

the world needs a moratorium on babies. this bring to mind, the William and Melinda Gates Foundation, they focus a lot of keep kids in 3rd world countries alive and as mean as it sounds, why? for what do these kids have to look forward to... corrupt gov't, illiteracy, poverty and the opportunity to make yet more babies who will face that same challenges it seems. some people in the world, just because they can are interfering with nature or God (whatever you want to call it).

thanks for the correction. that is a huge increase and no doubt it will continue so the world seems doomed unless we can get india and pakistan to nuke each other to death... but got to figure out a way for china to get nuked to death as well.
