Hi Everyone - Just and update on us (Bernie & Doan). We POE'd through Detroit on Saturday 1/16/2010. Absolutley no problems at POE, the immigration officer asked us ONE question and made ONE comment. His question was .. So are you immigrating today...and his comment was...You know you have 90 days to get married. He was very nice and polite. Looked through our packet about 6 times (well didnt really look at anything, just flipped through the pages like a speed reader)! After fingerprint check (one hand) and photo he said congratulations and have a nice day and we were on our way. The Customs Officer asked a few questions... Where did we meet and when will we get married, then congratulations and have a nice day!!! I saw so many people who were missing papers and things that our wait in line was forever but we breezed through no problems!!! Then our flight home from Detroit to Erie, PA was diverted over Erie back to Cleveland so I rented a car and drove us to Home Sweet Home, finally arrived at 2am.

Thanks to everyone for all your help and support, I hope I can be of help to others in the future.

Good Luck to all those with upcoming interviews and in AP - our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Bernie & Doan

How long did it take?

Hi Scott,

It did not take long at all! I went in the Visitor line with Doan (there was an officer checking people in line and I just told her I was coming through this line with my fiance and she said ok, sure no problem. We probably waited in line for about 10 minutes before getting to the immigration officer. Total time spent at his station was about 10 minutes (mostly waiting while he fumbled around with our papers). I was starting to think maybe he didnt know what to do!!! It appeared he was looking for something. Then finally he found a page from the "brown package" and wrote some info onto the back of the I-94, stapled it into her passport, did fingerprint scan and photo and we were on our way. It took a few mintues to gather our bags and another 5 minutes in line for customs. Only a few minutes in customs and then through security check point and into the terminal. Total time from deplane, processing and into the terminal for connecting flight was about 30 minutes.

I was so suprised to watch other people ahead of us getting processed and not having their immigration documents. Some were wisked away to be further processed. One lady had her passport but had no visa in it!!! Hard to believe someone would travel so far without the proper documentation! If you have everything ready and the forms filled out its a breeze. I have always found the officers in Detroit to be very polite.

The biggest factor in Detroit is how many flights arrive around the same time. It was not very busy when we arrived. I have been there when the international entry area was packed full and the lines very long but this time it was a breeze.

Thuy's interview day is coming soon! We are very excited for the two of you and praying for you every day. Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing more pink!
