A potential wave of new regulation and higher taxes may be scaring many businesses from hiring, prolonging any rebound in employment, say business groups and economists.

The prospect of increased federal and state regulation and taxes has been particularly disruptive to the hiring plans of small- and medium-sized businesses, which have historically generated about two-thirds of the nation’s jobs.

I don’t really see the private sector hiring much in the next few months,” says Brian Bethune, an economist at Global Insight. “For the small-business sector there is just too much uncertainty about what happens beyond 2010."

Not only is the Obama administration seeking to push through major overhauls of energy and health care policy, it is also expected to impose dozens of new workplace rules and raise income taxes.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

Not only that, but "they" are also saying banks don't like to loan out money due to a failing economy. Here the key word is falling economy and why not with us trying to spend trillions on establishing democracies in the middle east and exporting all of our jobs to China. If people were working in this country like they once were, wouldn't have to raise taxes, those that are working not only have to pay their share, but also pick up the share for those that are not.

Dumb bastards in Washington can't even pinpoint the real problems and are too hardheaded to listen to sound advice, but like "they" also say, not getting paid by the average USC, getting money from other sources. The whole bunch of them are traitors not only to the American people, but to this country as well. We are being sold out.

Could this be why when i call customer serivce someone in India answers?

when will we learn YOU CANNOT TAX BUSINESS!!!!!!!!???? It is impossible to tax business in any way. Not possible. Business does not, and never has, paid tax. Indiviuals pay tax, ONLY individuals pay tax. Those individuals can be workers or can be business owners (including stockholser) or they can be business clients (sutomers) but that is ALL. NO ONE else pays tax. Busineeses COLLECT tax from individuals, they do not PAY tax. Every time there is a new tax on business, ANY tax on business, individuals will pay it, business will collect it and business will shrink because they can go elsewhere and not have to collect the tax, thereby offering their goods and services cheape tro their clinets.

We need to END all tax on business, bring the business BACK here. A fair consumption tax is the only way. End incoem and business tax and replace it with comsumption tax. FAIR TAX NOW!

As a businessman, taxing a business is no big deal, we just pass the cost through to the customers. I like sales taxes best. They are a straight add-on, and I get free use of the money for 90 days. A VAT or an income tax is a little harder to get the customers to accept as anything other than price gouging. Passing along healthcare costs has already proven to be detrimental to businesses in the US.
