Thanks to everyone for their feedback and experiences.

I am trying to determine if the fee (that is sent in w/inital I-129F) to USCIS, and the visa processing fee assesed at the time of interview are one in the same or different.

Specifically, reading El Salvador's information, it says "at time of interview each immigrant visa applicant must pay a $400 visa processing fee".....is this amount in addition to the amount that is submitted w/inital packet (I-129F) to USCIS?

Additionally, how do you find out what the amount is that one is to submit to USCIS and the inital I-129F packet. (my first step, just starting the process!) In reading the forms on VJ, it just stated "put in correct fee".

Lastly, does anyone know if I am applying for my fiancee and child (18yrs old) does that constitute as (1) applicant or (2) applicants, in relationship to the above mentioned ..."at time of interview each immigrant visa applicant must pay a $400 visa processing fee."

Thanks in advance to everyone. Your trials and tribulations are inspiring !!

visa fee is a another amount of money which should be paid at the time of interview. for everyone who needs a visa, a visa fee should be paid.

application fee has nothing to do with visa fee and is payable to USCIS

you can find the cost for I-129F application here http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...000b92ca60aRCRD which is $455

Thank you for the quick response.

I now understand that if my fiance and her son are both included on my K1 petition, and they both require visa, then the processing fee at time of interview would be $400 each.

Just another clairification....regarding the intial application fee of $455. That is a set fee, which includes fiance and child, correct?

It does not go up based on number of children, am I correct?

Lastly.....regarding Medical Examinations...I located the fee of $240, but could not locate information whether that was per person, or included all who were listed on the K1 filing. i.e mother & son.

Thanks again for all the assistance.

One $455 petition filing fee (not application fee) covers fiancee and children.

Medical fees are per person.

Visa application fees, currently $131 per person (not the $400 immigrant visa fee CR1/IR1) are separate and paid in local currency before interview.

Once your family is here, the status adjustment fees are also per person. $1,010 for spouse and each child 14 and older or $600 for each child under 14 when filed concurrently with the parent.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
