In the form I-864 Question 21 "Household Size", I am told to write the number of persons I am sponsoring which will be "1" (My Husband). Then in the next line it says Persons Not sponsored in this affidavit.. and it tells me to write "1" if I am currently Married. So, the 1 for my husband whom I am sponsoring plus the 1 for myself, plus the one for my "husband" (who is the same person I am sponsoring), somehow leaves me with 3 people in my household.

Am I supposed to leave a "0" in the space for my spouse, and write a 1 for my spouse who I am sponsoring???

This is confusing.

Any help?

I guess upon looking at it again I should really put 0 for "spouse" because it is clearly under the "PERSONS NOT SPONSORED"... its just confusing because its asking me if I'm married and ofcourse the answer is yes... but I guess the fact is my spouse is the person being sponsored.. and I don't have a spouse who is not being sponsored..

On to the next stretch... AOS, EAD filed... wish us good luck:)

If you counted someone - you don't count them again (regardless if they are your spouse or not).

(that question is if the person you are sponsoring is not your spouse (and you have a spouse). Confusing :)

You shouldn't end up with more people than are in your household (on the form that is)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

The total should be (2) plus any dependants (Children if any)
