Im confused!....again.

Hello Everyone!

I am confused again! When I came to Boson,MA the man at immigration said to me i can start working as soon as i get me SSN. So i went and applyed at the local office and 2 weeks later I had a SSN card with a note on it saying FOR EMPLOYMENT ONLY.

This means I can work right? But i have read on here that i must have a EAD. I am applying for jobs right now and all they have asked for so far is that i have an SSN.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Can't work until you have EAD or GC.

Your SS Card should say "Not Authorized for Work Without DHS Authorization". A K-1 entrant will need either the EAD or PR/Green Card to be authorized to work. The CBP officer was incorrect.

Anyone you work for is going to have to complete an i-9 Form: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf, where you have to be able to supply certain identification from various lists to be eligible for employment. I don't think you'll have anything yet that satisfies List A on the form.
