Hi,

I am currently unemployed and i have a job offer that will only pay $7.25/hour. This will not meet the poverty guideline requirement, which is $18212. If i do a part time job and meet the yearly income requirement of $18212 will that be acceptable. I haven't been able to submit I-864 yet. Not having a job is really stressing me out. Please let me know.

thank you

there's 2 things about the I-864 that might be useful to you:

1. it must be submitted during NVC processing, but it is NOT evaluated during NVC processing.

2. IT IS evaluated by the Consulate/Embassy , to see if you meet the guidelines, on Interview Day.

But - if your situation changes between NOW and the interview date (IE - you land a better job ), suggest you send off a NEW I-864 to your spouse, for him/her to turn in ON INTERVIEW DAY. The Embassy Staff are amenable to the concept of an 'updated I-864', you betcha.

Also is there a certain time period that i have to be on the job, before submitting the I-864.

i think what you are asking is if you are working multiple jobs to meet the poverty guidelines? if that is your question. yes, you can work as many jobs as it takes  the embassy just wants to ensure that your spouse will not become a public charge. if you cannot meet the requirements on your own, you will want to look for a co-sponsor. good luck :star:
