Is there such thing as a visa for victims of international disaster ? For example, if you were from a place that was devastated by the Tsunami and you lost everything, could you be granted a visa based on that situation alone? Would it fall under refugee ?

Looked at USCIS and didn't find such a visa...

Thanks for your help !

Alright, so here is the gossip:

There is this woman who works with my mister, and she's been asking him for a lift home (she lives en route to our house, so no problem really). But something doesn't seem exactly right. And when i asked him about her, he said she is here on a visa for "people who have lost everything". Apparently she is a national of one of the countries hit by the Tsunami, and is here living & working in LA. She doesn't have a green card, but this nebulous visa.

Now, i KNOW it's terrible of me to be suspicious of this person who may be a victim of a terrible circumstance... i KNOW that's bad and i'm a bad person, etc... but still... somethin' doesn't seem right...
