I'm not sure about that, but I do think it was unfair because my eyes work just fine and I saw that there was no traffic around, Anywhere and didn't think I was putting anyone in danger. But the law is clear... stop at red light before making right turn... so after having to pay that huge fine that's what I do now... when before I probably didn't every time.. so they have a point, it does work in changing the behaviour of drivers, is $125 a bit of a stiff fine for what I did? hell yes !

A friend of ours said she was recently ticketed by a cop for running a red light and it's going to be over $400 plus it goes on her record. If mine is close to $125, I'll feel lucky.

I really have no idea if the amount of the fine is different for each city/county and if it's more/less for turning or crossing an intersection, you should have a way to go on a website of that city in which the infraction occured and see how they do things, I just gave you the info for what happened in my case...

You are confusing two different things. Red Light Running tix are the $400+ beast, and is a serious moving violation.

Right-Turn video camera tix are the $125 twirp that is not a moving violation. (these do little for traffic safety and whose main purpose is revenue generation for cities.

ps, if you are not sure that this is all about revenue generation, then I have some swamp land in Florida I want to sell you. Wise up.

I clearly stated, that my case was for turning right on a red light and gave the info pertaining to that... and said this might be helpful as the OP's question was about "fighting" a photo radar ticket and I did receive some information about that on the notice of violation I received and shared this info.

I have no idea if anyone is making money off of this or whatever, I don't care.

Well here is the newsflash: Yes, local governments, the red light cam companies, and police depts are making much money off these devices. It is NOT about public safety.

Ok, this never crossed my mind, but probably... that would make sense as it was obvious to me that I was not putting anyone's life in danger by making that right turn. But I understand too, that I "broke a law" and should pay the fine and it taught me to stop next time, no matter how much traffic is around, which I now do. Do I think I would've learnt the lesson if the fine was $30 instead of $125? sure, but I guess they have to make their money somehow...
