Has anyone here tried to fight a photo radar ticket?

i know of a guy in germany that did and was successful - mainly because it wasn't him in the pic nor was the license plate of his car.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

pay your ticket, hippie! :jest:

It happened late last night. From what I recall the flash happened as I was almost all the way through the intersection and there was another car ahead of me by about 40 feet. I just don't recall running a red light or if I did, then so did the other driver.

According to what I've been reading, the radar isn't always accurate...and that you can appeal the ticket.

Based on what? Are you going to claim his equipment was faulty? Good luck with that  A long and costly suit awaits...

You know that photo radar there on El Toro and Moulton? That's the one. Before moving to Lake Forest, I lived in Laguna Beach for nearly 5 years and not once tripped it off.

Ah running a red light. Actually, I don't know the intersection but there are a few on my way to the Gym. I laugh at the notion that these 'cause' accidents though. Hello, junctions are dangerous places, one should always exercise caution.

Seriously Steve, I don't know if it's worth the hassle to contest it. I wouldn't bother, no matter how unjust I felt it was because the aggravation would I am quite sure outweigh any positive conclusion that conceivably might occur somewhere down the line several years away ;)

Well, if I did run a red light, I should pay. But I just don't remember it that way. I'm mostly concerned about how this will effect my insurance premiums.

There is nothing disingenuous about a camera catching people running red lights. Junctions are hazards that create innumerable potentially dangerous situations. If you are approaching a junction and can't stop in time when the lights change then you are approaching the junction at an inappropriate speed.
