Hi,

I have a quick question about the 325-A form. In the box for "Applicant's last address outside the United States of more than one year" I'm seeing two different things. VJ's example form lists the current non-US address (http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-G-325A.pdf) and Family-Based Immigration's example form (http://www.fixya.com/support/p210248-rca_vr554_vcr) lists the applicant's non-US address previous to their current non-US address.

Can anyone weigh in on this?

It's a pretty straight forward question - the example form can't be an example for everyone - They simply want to know the last address, outside the US, for more than one year - for some, the answer will be their current foreign address - the answer for you may vary. It's not a trick question though.

  • Did you live outside the US?
  • If so, what was the last address (outside the US) you lived for at least 1 year?

the example sheets are what's confusing. Both of them (on VJ and family-based immigration) use the example of someone with two previous addresses outside of the US, but how they fill out the box that says "Applicant's last address outside the United States of more than one year" is different.

VJ's example uses the most current non-US address and the other example uses the address previous to the most current US-based address. Like the examples, I have lived in two different residences in Canada in the past 5 years. I'm not sure which to list in the second box since the two example forms contradict each other.

But you didn't live at both residences at the same time, right?

So choose the last one that you lived at for more than a year. That's what they want.

I just realized I put the link to the second example wrong, it's this: http://***removed***/forum/pdf/G-325A.pdf

Ok... guess you can't link to other sites.

I guess I'll just go with my current non-US address in that second field, as in the VJ example, unless anyone else has any other comments :)

If you'd like to post more information about where you've lived, for both yourself and/or your fiancé, you could get a definite answer. Otherwise we can't tell you what your answer should be. :)

When we filled out the I-130 I had just moved back to Canada. I could not list my current address in Canada as I had not lived at that address for more than a year. I had to go back a few years to figure out which address I lived at for more than 1 year and list that.

Otto_und_Karin is right, it's not a trick question. Simply list the last address you lived at, that is not in the US, for more than 1 year. If you have not lived at your current address for longer than a year, then go back and figure out where you've lived for longer than a year. This address may be your parents' address from when you are a child.

Good luck.
