If someone put "yes" in the question no. 15 "Have you ever committed a crime or offense for which you were not arrested".... will it be investigated?

for example if a person works illegally (13-15 years before when he was in visit visa)? will they take action if put "yes" in this question? pls explain in detail

Who hasn't? Speeding, running a red light, not making a complete stop, fudging on your taxes etc.

Stupid question.

That question, about being here illegally is covered elsewhere in one the many forms you have to fill out in the process of immigration, now I can't recall if it was also on the N-400, but I could look. But if a person already lied about this, they are history, some 4000 cases are pending on this issue so apparently, the USCIS is looking. Answering NO to question 15 on this issue is just the icing on the cake for the USCIS, but those people will be deported.

If you answer YES you must provide further information and yes, they will most likely inquire you about it. They'll most definitely not leave it be ...

Hi Tryhy1,

In answer to your question, if I were you, I would probably report it. It is better to report something, that it is to lie and/or conceal the fact about it.

It is a crime to lie to an immigration officer than it is to tell the truth..:) (and yes, you have to swear to tell the truth during your interview too)

Just write an explaination as to what was the situation and why this happened.

And answer the questions on the N-400 accordingly, about this incident.

Heck, immigration officials and/or the police should be going after your "employers" for this instead of you, as the are the ones doing wrong here with such hiring practices. It's wrong for them to hire illegals!

Now if there was a court record too, then you would have to send in the original copy of such as well. If not, then you don't have to worry about this.

Hope this helps too. Good luck with the rest of your journey too...
