Can it just have to be a regular copy? Or does it have to be a notorized copy or issued from the state or something?

And I have to copy both sides right?

I have read that it just has to be a clear copy of the front and back, it doesn't have to be notarized. I also read somewhere on the forum that one person ordered a few extra copies (certified copies) of his/her birth certificate (you can order it online from your state website), and sent one in with the I-129F and sent one to his/her fiance. It's not necessary but it seemed like a good idea for peace of mind.

11/29/2010 Sent AOS package
12/10/2010 NOA1
01/07/2011 AOS transfer to CSC
01/11/2011 Biometrics
2/08/2011 AOS approved
2/22/2011 Green card in hand!

It has to be issued from the county you were born in. Get 3 or so while you're at it. I just ordered some on line. $17 a copy plus $7 shipping.

I wouldn't submit originals when not required.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

It doesn't have to be notarized because the Service only accepts official documents from the county wherein the birth is registered.
