Hi. I am new to the site. I am a US citizen born in Puerto Rico and my hubby is from Colombia. I have petitioned my stepdaughter who is 14 and living in Colombia. Her appointment was for this morning and she received an rfe because they are asking her for copies of her fathers gc and passport (why if I am the one petitioning her) proof of our relationship, pictures, bills, etc, and they asked her where did I work like she would know. In my appt letter, I was told they had everything and that they did not need anything else. Now, she has to pay for a pin number and request another appointment once she has everything. I wish I would of known they would ask for these things as I was just there in November. My question is, once I call the number and get her another appointment, how long is it before they reschedule her? Can I choose her appointment? I have to pay for her plane ticket and someone elses so that she does not travel alone. Thanks.

To me I'd think a 14 year old stepdaughter would know where you worked.

how would she know if she just me in November? she knows what I do and the type of business but not the name of the company.

I am currently petitioning for my stepson (we are waiting for an interview) and I have read other posts here that have indicated that they are more concerned with the relationship between the biological parent and the USC. I actually was just looking at the appointment package, which says nothing about bringing proof of relationship to an IR2 interview. I'm sorry this happened to you, but I have a friend in Colombia who has had to go back to the embassy several times (she is filing DCF), and she said she can get an appointment within weeks, so I am sure it won't take too long. At least they didn't ask for a DNA test.

Good luck

Just FYI when my step sons attended the interview in Bogota I had sent the Embassy an email and was told to make sure to bring proof that there was a relationship with their father. You need to prove that you and the child fathr have the relationship.

PS you also will need a letter for DAS when the child leaves any airport in COlombia. Here is a link from here in the US ( in spanish sorry ) of the regualtions for a child to leave the country with either only one parent or someone else. If the child does not leave with wither one of the parents then the letter needs to be done ny both parents ( if the other is alive )

What if there is no relationship with the biological father? My son is 13 years old and hasn't seen or spoken to his father in ten years. No one knows where he is. What would one do in this situation?
