Anybody have any New Year's resolutions they'd like to share?

I am getting a treadmill from Santa this Xmas and hope to use it at least 5 times a week. I used to be a pretty damn good runner. Never was into long distance but I consistently ran in the 20-30 minute time frame 3-5 days a week for several years. Felt great. Looked great. Etc....Etc....Got married. Stopped going to the gym. Put on at least 20 pounds and a couple inches around the waist. Now out of shape and haven't ran in at least 5 months. Over 200 pounds for the first time in my life and fast approaching the 40 inch waist line danger zone!!

I'm gonna try to get back into shape hardcore. Might even document my progress and do a YouTube video. Goal 1 is to get under 200 pounds and goal 2 is to lose a couple inches around the waist. I haven't measured my waist yet but I think I'm in the 37-38 inch range. Would like to get at least to 36". Used to run a 5k (3.1 miles) in under 22 minutes no problem. That's slightly under 7 minutes per mile. Now I'd be lucky to do 1 mile in 9 minutes...

I'm with you Confucian, I'm doing the whole "get in shape" thing too. I've been stacking weight lifting equipment in my basement (aka "the dungeon") for a few months and come January 1, I'm giong to knock the dust off and actually use it.

I'm probably also going to start going on long walks through the woods with my backpack on. (That translsates to walking through the city park with reflectors all over me so nobody runs me over!) That's pretty good cardio plus it'll get me used to carrying a load again.

As for running..... I used to be good at it, but I've never been a big fan. I've never been one of those guys that's said, "I'm going to run a marathon someday."
