Hello everyone, I hope that I can get a few questions answered and appreciate any help people are willing to give.

I received my 2 year Conditional Green Card December 8, 2009 and have spent the better part of the 8th and today trying to get clarification as to what I can and can't do and what I need to update or not update. I know I have to apply 3 months prior to the expiration of my 2 year Green Card to receive a 10 year Green Card and a year after that I can apply for Naturalization if I wish as it would be about 3 years.

Now that I have my Green Card I should be able to travel to Canada with my (Canadian passport) and return to the USA via my (Green Card).

1. Since I will be traveling by land to Canada is there any other piece of identification that is required to cross the border. Besides my Canadian passport, going into Canada and my Green Card when entering back into the USA.

2. When I cross into Canada do I just need to inform them I am a Canadian citizen with Conditional Permanent Resident Status in the USA or just state that I am Canadian? The same goes for when I cross back into the USA, what should I tell the border guards there?

3. Since I have a 2 year Green Card do I still need to use my EAD to get work?

4. Do I need to go to my local SSN office and have my Social Security Number updated based on the fact that I now have my Green Card?

I may have more questions later on, and I thank everyone in advance for their advice.

I know I have to apply 3 months 90-days (not always 3 months) prior to the expiration of my 2 year Green Card to receive a 10 year Green Card and a year after that I can apply for Naturalization if I wish as it would be about 3 years.

Now that I have my Green Card I should be able to travel to Canada with my (Canadian passport) and return to the USA via my (Green Card).

Nothing else should be needed - you'll need both your passport (for I.D. purposes) and the PR/Green Card (you should always travel with both); some folks may carry a copy of marriage certificate if name canged.

2. When I cross into Canada do I just need to inform them I am a Canadian citizen with Conditional Permanent Resident Status in the USA or just state that I am Canadian? The same goes for when I cross back into the USA, what should I tell the border guards there?

Not sure you need to declare anything but if asked, answer their questions.

3. Since I have a 2 year Green Card do I still need to use my EAD to get work?

No - your PR/Green Card will serve as your work authorization (EAD no longer needed from this point out).

4. Do I need to go to my local SSN office and have my Social Security Number updated based on the fact that I now have my Green Card?

You may, yes - doing so will get you a new SS card without the "Not valid for work without DHS authorization" annotation.
