and then he had the woman ask him why he hadn't paid beforehand, per the email they had sent him. Since he had just gotten the email late on Friday and it was now early Tuesday, he hadn't had time to call, so he said he didn't know what they were talking about. They let him pay there, thankfully, and so we were able to avoid calling the extortion line.

I hope someone with access to the WIKI etc. can get this new change incorporated, because I don't think people will get away with playing dumb for too much longer....thanks for confirming that it's a new requirement as opposed to just a new option...

Not only that, it would be nice if the Embassy itself changed the information on their website. I know, I know, that's a lot to ask from a government agency. When I tried to find any information about the change other than the email, there was nothing to be found, though someone else told me that her fiance had received the same email. Maybe they are sending out the information in the P4 letters now, but it seems a bit presumptuous for the embassy to assume that the applicants can immediately react to an email sent only one business day prior when it takes the embassy three weeks to even confirm if they've received something.

Not sure where to post this, but after looking over the check list of documents to bring to the interview, I have a question. VJ's list says the beneficiary should bring an I-164 and three years worth of tax returns, as well as a letter from the petitioner's employer. As this was already submitted, can you bring copies of those papers, or do you need to fill out a new form and get a new letter? We had petitioned for this visa back in April of 2009, so I had sent 2006, 2007, and 2008's returns. Now, that we are in 2010, should we have 2009 with us at the interview? I would think yes, but wondering about asking my employer for an updated letter.

Thanks.

Hi Mintchip - I'm not that familiar with how the spousal visas work in London, and a lot of us did the K-1, so the first thing I thought was that you had already done the I-864, which is the affidavit of support for the immigrant visa at NVC, so I wondered if you had been reading a list of things for a K-1 interview. Does the embassy documentation also ask for that?

If it's been several months since you did the affidavit of support at the NVC, then I would recommend that you do bring some updated documentation to the embassy interview. It's not all that much to gather, and if you have time now, it could save you some time (or at the least, peace of mind) to have fresh stuff on hand at the interview.

I found the list on the I-130 Guide where they list documents to bring to the interview. Same as you mentioned, I know I'd already sent in the I-864, but the list has is there too. I'm sure I won't have a problem gathering it all together. Thanks for your input.

Are you saying you frontloaded the I-864 with the original I-130 petition? If so, you may still want to bring in an updated one, because so much time has passed. It's been more than a year, so they want to know that you still have the same income sources and pay rates, etc. If you can get your updated letter and tax returns, they may help you. I had frontloaded my I-134 with my I-129F petition for our K1, but because it hadn't been more than a couple of months they didn't ask for an updated copy. I can't really imagine them accepting an original that is more than a year old. You may not need the entire thing redone, but you might want to sign an updated one just in case, and bring your backup documentation. The only thing that has to be original is the form itself with your original signature. Copies are fine for everything else.

Good luck!

Our daughter has her interview tomorrow at 9am ... wish her luck ...

It's a relative visa so we already sent the information the Embassy needed.

She just needs to turn up with her passport, her letter and a couple of photos ... at least that's what we are hoping.

Stay tuned.

Thanks Dodi. I agree that the first forms I submitted are well over a year old, so have redone them today and got a new letter from my employer. I have copies of my tax returns too so I will be all set. :)
