2010 United Kingdom Interview Thread

I am in similar situation and have the same question. I received packet 4 two days ago. My interview date is 6th of May too. We plan to take with us one year old boy. Any advice?

I don't know how helpful these two links are but I came across them during the week:

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/visaservices/?p=712

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/visaservices/?p=784

If someone from the embassy said not to bring them then it seems a little contradictory. But I also notice these blogs were post lasted year so I don't know if they changed something.

Good question. I'm assuming you mean the beneficiary name is misspelled? Hopefully someone has an answer on this on for ya, but if it were me I'd call the NVC. Maybe posting this in the consulate section might get a few hits.

it was the petitioner's name that was misspelled. We rang nvc who told us to call the embassy....rang dos who told us to email scslondon@state.gov, but the auto reply said it was not for visa queries.

At the moment I'm not too worried as his name is spelled correctly on the noa1 and noa2 from uscis as well as the i129f - and I'm assuming by this stage it's all about me (the beneficiary ;)) but I was wondering if anyone had come across anything similar.

As an aside I also managed to miss some previous addresses off my g325a, which I thought might mean an rfe from uscis - but we got a straight approval. At the moment my plan of action is to take an amended g325a with me to interview just in case, but not send it in case it just causes complications. However I'd welcome any advice :)

My passport and visa just came through! I have never been so excited to see a courier. This means I can fly tomorrow! I can't stop looking at my visa... it's like a medal for everything we've been through in the last 8 months. I'm SO intrigued by the brown envelope though... it feels like it has some sort of booklet in it. Does anyone know what's inside?

It is your file from the Embassy, basically all the paperwork filed to get your visa. You are couriering it to the US where it becomes the start of your USCIS file.

That is odd, I went back and read the email I was sent.

To paraphrase it says:

Remember the petitioner is not required to attend - he can appear alone - we do not advise bringing children (because it can take ages), but we are happy to allow YOU to attend (me, his spouse, not child).

So I suppose in retrospect they are advising me not to bring him, not saying that I can't. It is so strongly worded though, it made me assume there is a rule against it. We will be in London with him, maybe we should just all show up and see what happens?

Normally I would not mind him going alone, its just that I am self employed. If they have questions about my taxes ect for the I-184, he'll be a bit stuck answering them.

Ergh. Will be happy when this bit is over.
