I have read through the USCIS website that HPV vaccine isn't a requirement anymore for AOS.

Since that's the case, I am planning not to take the second shot on Dec. 14. That's also the time when I will have the 2-month span between my two shots. I wanted to do this since we are still busy for our wedding plans and we are spending on it.

So, my question is, can I take the second shot on a later time, like 3 or 5 months from now when we are financially able to do so?

Or is the 2-month span between 2 shots a requirement for HPV vaccine?

Thanks.

I have the same doubt. I'm going to the doctor's appointment soon and I'm not sure if the new vaccination requirement is already valid. I tried to search on the USCIS web site but I found nothing.

I didn't take any shot yet, do you guys think I should take at least one? Here in Brazil the 3 shots are about $600 :/

If you haven't "slept" around [your mate also] and don't plan to I wouldn't even consider getting the shots.

To many side effects.

The schedule for the shots is the first shot followed by the second shot 2 months later followed by the third shot 6 months later. When you take a vaccination that requires more than one shot you really do need to stick to the schedule as the 2nd and third shots 'boost' the first one at the correct time for the vaccination to be effective. If you take the booster shot too late, there is no guarantee that the vaccination will be effective. If you are going to continue with the vaccination then you need to stick to the schedule. If you are not planning on continuing then it doesn't matter. Here is some basic information about the sequence: http://www.drugs.com/gardasil.html

How is Gardasil given?

Gardasil is given as an injection (shot) into a muscle in your upper arm or thigh. You will receive this injection in a doctor's office or other clinic setting.

Gardasil is given in a series of 3 shots. You may have the first shot at any time as long as you are between the ages of 9 and 26 years old. Then you will need to receive a second dose 2 months after your first shot, and a third dose 6 months after your first shot.

Be sure to receive all doses of Gardasil recommended by your healthcare provider or by the health department of the state you live in. If you do not receive the full series of vaccines, you may not be fully protected against the disease.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Contact your doctor if you will miss an Gardasil booster dose or if you get behind schedule. The next dose should be given as soon as possible. There is no need to start over.

Be sure you receive all recommended doses of Gardasil. If you do not receive the full series of vaccines, you may not be fully protected against the disease.

What happens if I overdose?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

We have been together for 2ys and I'm sure he is as faithful as I am. (or I hope so  )

So if I don't need the shots, I won't take any. I'm very worried about getting vaccinated not only for the costs but as you said, the side effects.

Thanks for the link :)

I was about a month late getting my second shot, and almost 2 months late getting the last shot. My doctor told me that there was no problem being behind with the series. She did say, however, that one should at least try to have the series completed within a 12 months span. Not to sure why.

yeap... and the HPV shot hurts ;(. For the doctor's appointment you will need the shot (least the first one), and my advice is take before the appointment b/c at doctor's office is much more expensive ;(.

As I understood, that's for AOS... So for AOS you dont need, but for visas (as a K-1, K-3, CR-1, IR-1) you still need it.

Seriously? So I need to get the 1st shot in BR and then when I travel to the US I can just drop it?

It doesn't make sense. I thought it was for everybody.... aos, and all the others immigrants visas.

And yes, I know! The shots are very expansive down here. I was so happy I didn't have to take them anymore :/

WASHINGTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has, since Nov. 13, 2009, temporarily held certain applications to adjust status to lawful permanent residence until new CDC vaccination criteria become effective on Dec. 14, 2009.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on Nov. 13, 2009 new criteria for determining which vaccinations will be required for applicants seeking to become lawful permanent residents. Based on these new criteria, and beginning on Dec. 14, 2009, the vaccines for herpes zoster (zoster) and human papillomavirus (HPV) will no longer be required for immigration purposes.

So, just to make sure... thee 1st paragraph they say they are holding certain applications to aos until the new criteria becomes effective. (i understand that this is for the applications they already have, dor AOS)

Then on the 2nd paragraph they say "applicants seeking to become permanent residents. Doesn't mean it's only for the AOS process, does it?

I got confused now

Ok, I think I got the correct info here:

Who will be affected by the new vaccination criteria?

The new vaccination criteria apply to all applicants who seek legal permanent residence in the United States. This includes those examined overseas and those already in the United States who want to adjust their visa status to become a legal permanent resident.

So, it means the new criteria applies to everyone. Not only AOS! Yaaaay :)

I'm pregnant and had my first shot in July.

I asked my OB if it will cause me problem if I missed the second and third shot and if i can just pick up from where I left off with all the second shots that I should be getting... she said no problem.

I'm not taking the second and third shots anymore, waste of good money.
