221g pls help

My interview dint went well. Got a 221g letter from the CO stating (Your passport is damaged. Please submit the new passport at the nearest VFS office).

First she asked me questions like how i met my fiance, occupation of my fiance, have i ever travelled to any other country before, my date of birth and looked at our photographs very carefully and at the end she handed me a letter and said i dont see any problem with our application but you have a damaged passport and get a new one.

I have heard when someone gets a 221g the CO also gives the applicant some kind of slips which was not given to me and also the DS230 part 2 was not asked from me but at the end of the interview i went to other counter and i asked the lady there y DS230 part 2 was not taken from me and she said for K1 we dont require DS230 part 2.

I dont know how much time it will take me to get a new passort from my hometown. Can anyone pls give me an idea for how long the petition remains valid after getting a 221g.

And after sending the new passport through VFS am i likely to get a visa stamped on it or they will call me again for the interview or ask for any other document.

at the bottom of the 221g sheet, it should state you have a year, but i would advise the sooner the better. if that was the only thing listed as missing, then as soon as you submit your new passport, you should get the visa. good luck

salam brother......i know its so hard when they dont just come right out and say congratulations u passed.....how ever beings she told that every thing looked fine you just need to give them undamaged passport i believe its pretty safe to assume u are approved for your visa.....

if the embassy has doubt about your relationship they will give you a 221g with a list of things that they want you to submit as in more proof of relationship.......as far as i know and as long as i have been on this site i have never heard of anyone asked for a undamaged passport to be sent in to the embassy just so they can say sorry you didnt pass

Refer to your Ministry of Foreign Affairs website or contact them to find the precise informations on how long you can obtain a new passport.

I don't see any problem, you just have to get a new passport because your damage passport might cause you a problem along the way.

i think what he is worried about is that in India it can take up to six months to get a new passport

Are you going back in person to deliver the new passport or mail it via courier? I new passport shouldn't take long if you pay for expidite service. If you mail the Passport make sure you include a letter with your case number and all pertinent contact info. You have passed the interview - congrats. Something similar happened to my spouse in Manila and she got what they wanted and mailed it back and all was fine.

BTW - what's wrong with your Passport? Damaged how?

i will send the new passport through courier only as New Delhi is very far from my hometown and it takes almost two hours to reach there by flight and costs some dollars.There is a service called Tatkal Scheme in India where you get the passport in weeks time and the validity of that passport is only one year and yes they charge extra money for that service which i dont see as a big problem. i dont know if i get that passport, will the embassy people accept that because of the its short validity. The moment i get the new passport i will courier that to VFS and will attach the 221g letter along with the cover letter.

well i always took good care of my passport but thanks to defence people in Kashmir who damaged that and honestly i knew my passport is damaged before but i went to the passport office in srinagar once and asked them to check if my passport is damaged then one person came up saying yes and the other three persons sitting there told me itz fine.

Apply for a 'TATKAL SERVICE' for a new passport.You will receive a new passport in a week.Good luck.

The 1 year validity of the new passport will be fine. They only ask for a passport with 6 months validity at time of interview. Hurry and get the new passport back to them an you will have your visa soon. Goodluck
