Fiance abroad moving to different country

I know this question may be rather obvious, and i've looked through the old threads and found some different answers.

My situation: Fiancee is in Australia finishing graduate degree, is a thai national, K1 application has Fiancee's address abroad listed as Australian address. She graduates in January and will move back to Thailand. The application lists US embassy in Bangkok as embassy designation.

Should I bother contacting USCIS to change the address once NOA2 is issued? Should I send an email or note to embassy once it gets forwarded? Or does it really matter since she's already printed Packet 3 from embassy website and begun assembling it and it lists a new contact information on that form.

Thank you for your time.

Your timeline lists the NOA1 as 22 September, so your NOA2 may be imminent.

I would contact the USCIS first if your case has not yet gone to the NVC.

The Consulate wouldn't even consider your question without a case in hand.

I'm assuming she will expect to have her interview in BKK, so the sooner

you square things away regarding the address the better.

Even though BKK is the designated consulate, in a bureaucratic situation many things

could go wrong if they have the wrong contact address.

I hope that was helpful.

I'd go for an address change. I think there's something online, or you can try calling the 800 number on the NOA1.

If she has an address in Thailand and the requested consulate is in Thailand, then it should all work out.

Either way, good luck! USCIS has an awful track record of successfully changing vital information properly.

That's why it's imperative you get their attention via a special communication, not just filling the

address change on a form (which may be overlooked).

Be on the alert for future communications, especially if you get e-mail notification and it (NOA2)

hasn't been mailed to the proper address but the former one.

Contacting the USCIS is not easy nor is it recommended by Gary & Alla but in this case

it might do you good because the question is so straightforward.

Back when I was filing my I-129F I did get through to a live person, it is possible.

I just had simple questions but I did get through twice.

I did not have questions about the content of forms, only about the procedures

for assembling the packet.

They could direct you (hopefully) to where/how you could change her address.

It's natural for the government to assume that only one address might change.

Thanks for all your help, I'll try to call them first thing in the morning. It says on the USCIS website to make sure and call them if changes on I-129s may reflect a change in embassy or port of entry (although i don't know why this would change since she's Thai and I stated Bangkok embassy), and if there's a way to change her address online I certainly can't find it, since she's still abroad.

You're right, it doesn't make any sense that you can't change that address. There has to be plenty of people that have this same problem.

You have to do something like that that's "in their face"

- or else they will just say "bureaucratic snafu"

but you will still be obliged to furnish the information

at a later date and risk further delay because they

sent something important to the wrong address.

We can expect snafus no matter how well we prepare,

but at least we should try to get them all the required info.

I sent a letter, clearly indicating what the new and old addresses were, the receipt number, both our names and birthdates, sent it express mail with giant letters that said I-129 beneficiary address and country change.

The lady was really helpful and talked to several different people. Apparently since the address is outside the US she can't do anything on the computer, and it's a hard copy fix that has to be done with a letter to CSC.

When it gets approved an forwarded, will I get a number or something so I can contact VSC and ensure that the address is correct?

Yes, when you get NOA2, you can contact NVC - In fact, that might be a good way to "intercept" the package.
