Hi, I didn`t know exactly where to post this. I`m new here trying to find some info concerning my fiancee changing planes on her way here to USA. She`s from the Phils, if she changes planes in Tokyo or Hong Kong will she need a visa for there or will a passport be ok? Any pinay`s changed planes at either place coming here lately? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no other requirement but her passport with visa.

All commercial flight coming here in the US from the Philippines has to transfer in 1 one country or more. No need for visa (in that country) as long as her plane ticket covers it.

Thanks guys, I`ve tried calling embassy`s and looking everywhere I can think of on the net trying to find out. Just don`t want her having any problems when/if she does get her visa to come here.

Not true. You can get direct flights any or every day

Welcome to VJ. There is no need for a Tokyo/Japan visa when transferring planes in an airport. Even if you are staying on the same plane they will shuttle you through security and back to the terminal while the plane is cleaned.

If your fiancee is transfering planes at Narita in Tokyo there is a chance she may need to take a bus between terminal 1 and terminal 2.

I'm not familiar with Japan, but for Hong Kong, Phils residents don't need a visa for stays of up to 14 days. American citizens can stay up to 90 days without a visa.

I suggest you call the airlines help desk, get a human, inquire. Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
