Well I arrived here in US back in September 2007 and stayed with my husband in the apartment for like almost a year. And that was the address we used for my AOS. On Novemeber 2008, husband was deployed to Iraq and we decided for me just to go back home to my home country while he was deployed and that was for 9 months. I didn't update my address with USCIS by then. After 9months of his deployment and my stay in my country, we both went back here in America in August 2009 and signed a new lease with different apartment company. So we have a new address. Again, I didn't change my address with USCIS and it's like we're 3months old in this apartment. Unexpectedly, we will again move to another state because of his job in a month.

My question are:

1. What form should I file to have my address changed? Should I file for AR-11 or I could just do it online?

2. Is this a big issue not changing my address, now that I will file for ROC in May 2010?

You were never a mistake. You were my realization.

You need to update your address as soon as possible. Online is fine. If you dont update your address with them, they don't know where to send anything to you. As far as problems you will have with this? I am not sure....someone with more experience will have to answer that.

here is what their site says though :

Penalties for Failure to Comply

A willful failure to give written notice to the USCIS of a change of address within 10 days of the change is a misdemeanor crime. If convicted, the alien (or parent or legal guardian of an alien under age 14 who is required to give notice) can be fined up to $200 or imprisoned up to 30 days, or both. The alien may also be subject to removal from the United States. (INA § 266(B)). Compliance with the requirement to notify the USCIS of any address changes is also a condition of an alien’s stay in the United States. Failure to comply could also jeopardize the alien’s ability to obtain a future visa or other immigration benefit.

I just looked at the AR-11 and it doesnt ask date that you moved from previous address. Doing online is quicker and more secure anyway.
