Hi,

1.My spouse (beneficiary) is trying to apply for Police certificate (PC) in India.

2.Local Police officials ask for a proof from 'National Visa Center' (NVC) to issue PC.

3. My spouse showed them the instruction sheet from immigration web site (www.immigrantvisas.state.gov) and "Document cover sheet" pertaining to beneficiary.

4. Police officials says that they need a cover letter from NVC which specify to obtain PC.

5. Petitioner called NVC and requested for a letter. NVC denied to sent that letter.

6. NVC asked the beneficiary to fill up the DS-230 form, obtain all documents, and send it to NVC.

7. My spouse sent the DS-230 form and all the required documents except Police Certificate.

My question is,

Q1. What happens next?

Will NVC issue a letter to my spouse(beneficiary) asking to obtain PC or the missing documents?

OR

Will NVC schedules the interview directly?

Please share your experiences.

Thanks

You will be RFEd for a PCC. Your wife can then use the RFE to obtain the PCC. Do it ASAP because those things take a few weeks.

Where is your spouse from? What is your consulate?

depending on which consulate she is interviewing in, will depend if you get a request for the passport pcc. if she is in delhi, she will most likely get a request for it. if she is interviewing in mumbai, chances are they will just require it at the interview. chennai, i am not sure, as i have not seen many people interview through that consulate. we are going through new delhi. my husband already had the local police clearance, but we had an rfe for the passport pcc, as he has had his passport longer than 6 months. cr1/ir1 visas require both police clearances for their type of visas from indians.

Tell your wife to show them a copy of NOA1 and NOA2 and the document cover sheets for DS-230 and AOS.

Maybe this will help.

This is what my wife submitted.

Good luck

Hi - this is a very common topic for India - seems to be at least 1 new question each week here.

I find many great experiences with this, as results from the search engine tool here..

You guys using it ???

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hi Sachinky,

I am not sure what you mean by RFEd. Do you mean that I will be referred(RFEd) for a PCC? In other words do you mean to say that NVC will send me a cover letter to obtain PCC.

My spouse is from Hyderabad. Chennai is my consulate.

Thanks

RFE -- Request for more Evidence.

NVC will send that to you and you can use that to obtain the PCC.

Depending on the consulate, you can present it at the interview. Mumbai allows to you do this (tell NVC that the PCC will be provided at the interview) -- but Delhi doesn't. It has to be turned in at the NVC stage. As for Chennai, maybe someone else can chime in, on this matter.
