Purses inside consulate

It says you cannot bring a large purse...what about one of those mini purses, to hold money, credit card, lip gloss...?

May seem like a dumb question, but I can`t imagine a day without my purse!

The woods are lovely, dark and deep; But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep...

I'm sure you could always do your makeup in the car

I'm pretty sure a small or reasonably sized purse wouldn't be an issue, they just don't want to have to search through something roughly the size of a backpack. I would make sure, however, that you left home your cell phone, calculator (it's on the door), any other electronics...and honestly, I wouldn't risk nail clippers, nail file, etc.

I had a really small purse! it was smaller than the hobo type purses. But to be honest I found it in the way! thats the first time I found my purse annoying. I always had to put it down on a chair to be able to deal with my papers and stuff.

Despite my little jest about makeup and mascara up top...it's nice to be a guy in times like those. All I'll have with me at the interview will be my folder / envelope and my wallet. I have never owned a cell phone (!), and will be flying in, so won't have my car keys with me.

If my wife is able to drive up for the interview with me...I may have to do a strip search before she leaves the hotel though. She doesn't just carry a purse...she carries a massive handbag. :P

Yeah, another thing people forget is the electronic door lock opener that you use for your car - can't take that either.

Yes!! That's a great heads-up! I realized after I got there that I couldn't have it, and ran it back to the car while Spoom stood in line.

Wyatt's Torch - it's not just guys...I've never carried a purse a day in my life and I can't imagine myself ever doing so. I carry my wallet in my back pocket, and my car keys and cell phone in my front pockets. I just can't imagine what the heck I'd need a bag for.

J took his car keys and they put it in one of the "cubby holes" and gave him a number, and then when we left he redeemed his car keys. They won't turn you away for car keys. They might be grumpy about it, though. I think it's in their job description :P

I had a "medium" sized purse and it was fine! They looked through it, but that was it...

Basically, it's like going through screening at an airport...don't bring anything with you to the consulate that you wouldn't bring on plane....
