I'm tired of how often Muslim haters are cited as experts on my faith on radio or tv shows, and their venomous websites being touted as legitimate places to learn the "truth" about Islam and Muslims. It's harder than ever to find an actual practicing Muslim discussing Islam in the media these days. The likes of Robert Spencer, Brigette Gabriel and Daniel Pipes get loads of recognition. My local airwaves are full of talking heads urging listeners to indulge in hating the likes of me and others who embrace Islam. It's pitiful, but totally in line with the dumbing down and polarization of society into tribal groups that are only interested in what they already know.

Man, if you'd only take "Muslim" out of that and insert "gun-owner" you'd get a grasp of how frustrated I am.

I don't think I would give up if people of my religion (or any religion, for that matter) were being singled-out by the government to have their Rights violated. I think I'd be pretty quick to point out the fact that "those people" are in no way shape or form connected to my religion.

For many people it has been a case of the same errors being repeated for a 1000 years or more. Islam is a violent religion, Muslims are out to kill Christians, etc. Some people do not argue with your vehemence unfortunately. I think that errors should always be corrected. Some people have made whole careers out of bashing various groups and they are the ones that get the lion's share of the attention. Rights violation is another topic but juries are made up of people who watch TV and get one side of the story so you may have a valid point.

You forgot King Azzhole. The modern day Muir and Margoulith combined, Bernard Lewis and his lackey Samuel Huntington. By Huntington's own admission when the Soviet Union collapsed he had to find a new enemy. Ever wonder why the press doesn't call on Eric Margolis as much. He served in the Army (Infantry) unlike just about all these other "experts." I'm reading American Raj right now.

I do not under any circumstances give blanket approval for the arrogation of rights by the government. I am concerned about the slippery slope argument since governments do not give back power, ever! There is always a need to ensure that we stay vigilant. Has Obama repealed any of the major policies of the Bush Administration?

Yeah, he's closing Guantanamo and trying all the "suspected terrorists" in civilian courts. That's pretty big.

I'll quit beating around the Bush (sorry, had to insert that pun!) here. Why do American Muslims attempt to distance themselves from NOI but not Al-Qaida/Taliban? Why is there an acceptable standard to be sympathetic (or at least not to acknowledge) to the leanings and actions of those groups overseas, but not the NOI here in America?

Sure, they have different agendas, but Muslims claiming one thing for one reason aren't equally suported by Muslims everywhere? Why?
