Hi,

we are ready to file for my AOS, but got really confused on the I-864, Part 5. Sponsor's household size.

in this case, my spouse is the one who is going to sponsor me.

1. Number 21, h. Add together lines,..

How to add together lines for the household size? is it from a to g or start from b to g?

2. Number 21,

on the "Person you are sponsoring in this affidavit", the number is only 1, which is me.

But,

on the "Person NOT sponsored in this affidavit :" "c. if you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse "

its contra to the previous statement, because it means I can be in both category, as person that being sponsored and NOT being sponsored.

So, how to fill up this Part 5, number 21?

3. Couple years ago, my spouse's friend wanted to sponsor and bring the wife and two kids to US. But this friend couldn't meet the income requirement, so my spouse became his joint sponsor.

Could this affect my spouse income requirement? since I will be the fourth person under his sponsorship.

Or, is there a way he can cancel his sponsorship toward this friend's wife and kids?

Anyone with similar situation, or anyone can help, will be really appreciate. Thank you,..

1. Total of a - g.

2. As it says in big letters: Do not count anyone twice . In this case the spouse line C would be left blank. You are already listed on line A.

3. Your spouse cannot cancel their affidavit of support. If your spouse sponsored 3 people then that number goes on line F (unless they have become citizens or have left the US and abandoned their LPR status.

So the household size for the I-864 is 5 according to what you have said. You + US citizen spouse + 3 persons sponsored. Income requirement is 32,237 for 2009.
