Have been lurking these forums for a while, trying to get more of an understanding of the process before my wife files I-130 with the London embassy.

I sent in the petition on 4th November, and was wondering if I should be expecting any indication that it's been received? My wife's email is on the bottom of the first page, but I haven't heard anything back yet. Am I jumping the gun?

I am not 100% sure because I am only familiar with K-1's but I would think that you should be able to call the Department of State and ask them if they show in the system that it has been received.

Without a case # it would be a little hard to look up...

OP:

It is not unusual for there to be no notice of receipt with a direct filed I-130

I am pretty sure it took us a few weeks to get a confirmation that they received the I-130 at London Embassy. After that, they requested more information. (Affidavits of a bonafide marriage)

I'm expecting something like this too, was surprised to follow the checklist and be told to not send anything like that - going to get some people to put together affidavits, and have some co-mingled bills, a joint bank account, and insurance taken out jointly on contents and our cat.

I mailed mine Nov 6 and got an email on the 12th saying they received it on the 10th. We upgraded the shipping to the £4.95 one because the postal strikes were going on then. It was another few days before it showed up on my credit card, though.

Hopefully you'll hear something soon.

Got to the bottom of this, but only through my s.a.e returning with everything inside and stapled together - here's the questions I asked the embassy via email (with a ref. number), it'd be great if anyone could give insight, as I haven't heard from them yet:

1 - In the checklist box marked "Proof of UK Residence" there is what seems to be a scribbed "OK", and the word visa - we submitted a photocopy of my wife's FLR (M) UK Biometric Card Visa, does this mean that this is acceptable, and we need supply nothing more? We can submit photocopies of UK entry clearance stamps from times my wife has entered the UK.

2 - All of the submitted material has been stapled together, is this acceptable?

3 - My wife entered the UK as my fiancée in early January 2009, and we were married on 23rd February 2009 - does this make us eligible for direct consular filing?
