Miracle indeed... Jay Cutler just got intercepted in the endzone with 1 second on the clock. Ahh... oh so typical Bears performance...

Bears suck, Patriots all the way.

why did you put a comma in there?

The thread is about volcanoes and CO2, not your diarrhea.

WHAT REVERSED THE LAST TWO ICE AGES?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Is CO2 increases the cause of global warming or the result of it? Trends show the quantity of CO2 in the atmosphere follow climate change trends. Volcanoes also tend to emit dust into the upper atmosphere after they erupt, when Mt. St. Helen's blew her cap, we had winters with -45*F temperatures afterwards. Prior to the 70's, cities like Chicago were burning coal along with Gary pouring tons of soot into the atmosphere, these cities were coated with a black soot. But Al Gore would like to go back to this era. Simple enough, quit burning natural gas and go back to that sun blocking soot in the air. Even with all that coal burning, CO2 levels were much lower due to the soot blocking the rays of the sun.

London was yet another city known for coal burning, only the rich could afford to move out into the country. That couple by the huge use of horses for transportation resulting in huge piles of decaying horse manure that generates excess amounts of methane gas and other respiratory emissions. Michael Faraday had to leave London to continue his work, he was near on this death bed.

Most important tool for tuning up an internal combustion engine was a CO2 analyzer, adjusted the carburetor for maximum CO2 output, a harmless gas that when peaked decreased the output of HC's and CO, both deadly gases. AL Gore does make some good points about man made pollution, but just has it all backwards. Blame the EPA for global warming, they are the ones that got rid of all the smokestacks.

The 70's decade they were all convinced of a looming Ice Age, now the same "scientists" use the same evidence to support global warming.

Nice editing of the article, Bill.

I suggest people read the parts Bill did not include in his OP post.

Why? We already know what the "consensus among scientists" is for this decade. I can't wait to see what it will be next decade, or perhaps, next month...

So we actually need to burn dirtier coal. I see. Thanks for the info.

A more favorable option would be just to quit burning, period. Ironically, the machines we make are competing with us for the elements we need for life, like oxygen. A major source of pollution that should be completely banned are towns and cities converting forest land into asphalt jungles with huge traffic jams burning fossil fuels like crazy waiting for a light to change. And all those light bulbs burning all night consuming vast amounts of coal to generate electricity. Most towns and cities are brighter at night than during the day.

I agree - we need flying cars.

I am all for less pollution. But I don't think fascist government is the answer to achieving little to no pollution.

I take it you do not drive a car or use electric lights?

Popullution is certainly a problem, was using all hydroelectric power, then augmented by nuclear that recently died, now coal fired or natural rates is used to handle the increased population. The rivers did not keep up with the growth of population. Try to use as little electricity as possible, not that I am an environmental nut, it's just that the rates have skyrocketed.

Drive whatever vehicle the EPA let's me drive, battery powered or assisted hybrid vehicles are out of the question, they die in sub-zero temperatures.

Now let's talk about public transportation that they want to bring back that was a financial disaster in the first place. And with just a few employees serving thousands, they can go on strike and leave everyone helpless.

I just got my PG&E bill, with the mix for 2009. Using natural gas for 47%, but only 20% nuclear and 2% coal for power generation is not sustainable in the long run. They claim with normal rainfall, half of the power they supply California emits no carbon.

You get one more post, because you must put Methane and Water vapor in there too.

The same scientists and the same evidence huh?

Yeah...

Thanks Nick... this is a very interesting and very valid (though a bit unpragmatic) point of view.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Gore doesn't want me to mention methane nor water vapor.

Well you did name him. That's a plus.
