Good Afternoon everyone,

I was referred to this site by a friend of mine that said she used these forums to help her with her visa process 3 years ago.

Let me introduce myself.

My name is Jenny. I currently live in Toronto Canada and I married in NYC on September 1st.

My husband and I are going through the CR-1 process. I have read through the forums and guides which have been very helpful.

What I am trying to do is get all the forms needed and filled out ahead of time but I can't seem to find some of the forms online. Do I have to wait for them to be sent or is there somewhere I can go online to download them?

Also, when we got married in NY I legally changed my name to my husbands name. When I fill out the forms do I use my married name or my maiden name? The name on my passport and all other documents are of course my maiden name but I would like my green card to come in my married name.

Also, can I get a list of forms needed for the entire process? These are the ones that I know of....

I-130

G325A

DS230

I-864

What am I missing?

Also my last question is. What is current time line for a CR-1 Visa?

I will keep my process up to date once I get all my materials together.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Jenny

Let me bid you an early "Welcome to America," neighbor from the North! :)

As far as forms go, the only one I can see not on your list is the DS-3032, which will be sent to you by NVC at the appropriate time. Unless you have special circumstances, that should be all you need.

It would be a good idea to get the name changed on your passport and other important IDs before you get very far in the immigration process. Your technically not supposed to be able to travel on a passport if your legal name doesn't appear on it, though this sometimes slips by. Airlines are getting pickier about it, and some countries like Hong Kong now have an official policy requiring that the name on the airline ticket and the passport match exactly. Also, it will help a little in establishing a "bonafide marriage" if you are using your married name on all documents. My wife had all her IDs changed soon after we filed the I-130.

EDIT: Our process has taken about 5 months so far, and will likely take another 1-2 months. However, it varies WIDELY, so prepare for a long wait.

Also forgot to mention, the forms should all ask speciffically for your "family name" or "maiden name." Your family name will be your legal name, in your case, your married name. They will identify you by your legal name as stated on the I-130.

Welcome to VJ - I hail from Toronto as well

Here is the link to the guides where you can download the forms

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide1

The I-130 and the G-325A are for the initial petition

Then go here for NVC forms

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut

You'll need the DS3032, the DS230, the I-864, but not every form YOU will fill out, some your husband will. Follow the guides

You'll interview in Montreal, the only embassy in Canada that does Cr-1 and they are terribly backed up. So look at about 8-10 months from start of the filing to the interview.

Good luck.
