Thanks Ricardo

I'm going to have to come up with something :help: I don't want to drive all that way go straight to the interview and then drive all the way back. I get motion sickness if I ride in a car past 2 hours :crying: With all the twists, turns and bumps in the road there..... I'll be sick for sure :(

My sweetie has joined the club of those who REFUSE TO STAY in Kingston overnight. We'll be driving at the crack of dawn to our interview for about 2.5 hours. Gotta love it! I dont understand but there must be good reasoning to not stay there. Sad.

If you do find out what this 'good reasoning' is, I'd be really interested to know.....

I lived in Kingston, Dunkirk to be exact for 12 years.

Yes, I know that a LOT of Jamaicans from the country are scared of coming to Kingston, don't like Kingston, but comments like that which aren't informed merely accerbate the problem.

Yes, robberies happen in Kingston, shootouts happen in Kingston, but it is MORE than safe to go about your daily business there quite safely.

The Embassy is located in New Kingston, the heart of the business community there. Whatever shootouts, muggings may be happening in Kingston sure as hell DO NOT happen there. Please do point out proof you have to the contrary.

I aplogize if I sound pissed off, but it's kinda hard to see generalizations like this on a daily basis and remain silent.

Hi Everyone! It has been a long time since I've been on.

Hi to everyone that has joined since I've been on last... Congrats to all those with progress... and congrats on your new job Michele!

Things are going well on my end. Elias is growing so fast - he is so much fun. We're feeling like a real family now :luv:

I finally got off my lazy butt and posted some new pictures of Elias and some of our wedding pics from our November wedding in Negril... they are all up on the Yahoo site. Sorry it took me so long and sorry I haven't been on lately. Elias really keeps me busy and when I can get on, my computer is horribly slow.

Anyway... I miss you all. Hope everyone is doing well (L)

I wasnt trying to make Kingston sound bad. I have no problem with Kingston but I know that my fiance and many of my Jamaican friends who are not from there have the same "fears" whether they are warranted or not. I live in NYC and many people say terrible things about it. I didnt mean to offend or make generalizations. My apologies.

My sister is well (thanks Michelle for the email)! She went home yesterday.

That is so wonderful....congratulations (F)

Next Sunday I am flying into Kingston and we will be staying at the Hilton for three nights. I hope that the interview is worth the cost!
It will be worth it. I love the Hilton -- it's my "home away from home" Make sure you get a room by the pool.
some quick advice to all of those with upcoming interviews....i HIGHLY HIGHLY recomend you stay in kingston because trust me it will put some of your worries to rest!!!
I 100% agree with Shauna. We stayed at the Hilton and were just around the corner. Come hell or high water we were going to get to the Embassy that morning. You never know what is going to happen -- weather, car trouble -- you MUST be there at the scheduled time....they don't accept any excuse for being late. Don't go all that way, get everything together and get your hopes up just to have them dashed because you got run off the road by some jerk and the car is stuck in the mud. They are not going to reschedule you for the next day just because you are there -- you go back to the end of the scheduling line. The interview is just too important to play with.....
My question is would any of you guys think about moving back to JA for retirement?
I think I would really like to. Roy wants to "build on" to his brothers house in Old Harbor. We'll see.....
Weird Paranoid Question: You guys always write to me when I have a problem or a question and give me great advice and I am grateful. I have made a few friends and we Pm each other but no one seems to write back to me when I write here just generally. I am a weird? Am I rude? Have I offended anyone? Or am I just paranoid because our interview is one week away???
Ha, Ha....you're just being paranoid.....stopi it!! (L)
My employment worries are over. I start a new job on March 1
Congratulations!!
Elias is growing so fast - he is so much fun. We're feeling like a real family now :luv:
