To SSN or not to SSN?

After my fiancee arrives in a K-1 visa, we plan to have a court marriage that week as a SSN is not required in NY to get married. So my question is....

Should I wait (up two weeks) to apply for SSN and then apply for I-485 or just apply for I-485 after the court ceremony without a SSN?

Are their benefits for GC or Work Autorization being approved faster if she has a SSN at the time of application?

You can do AOS without SSN... but, there are some SSA offices that will not let you apply for SSN once you are married (if you came here K1). In this case, you will have to wait for either EAD or the GC itself before they can assign a number to you.

Why won't they issue a SS# if you've already married? I would like to know because he (my fiance) is coming 4th of Dec. and we're to be married 3 days later, then planned getting the SS# after waiting two weeks. Please send me a pm with your answer.
