Whether Bush did or didn't is moot. The real issue is whether or not Obama used dead people for a photo op....I say yes and this further demonstrates that this guy's merely an empty suit!

Anyone see him saluting in unison with the Honor Guard? A disgusting contrived display for the cameras!

You act as though this is something other than business as usual in politics.

The photo-op may be contrived, but your outrage about it certainly is.

It's not a fact that Bush didn't go to Dover. You have nothing to back that claim up.

What is a fact is that nobody knows that he ever did go. Bush himself was fairly clear on the point that he wouldn't attend any funerals of fallen service personnel because he felt that if he were to attend one such funeral then he'd feel he'd have to attend all of them.

Because which funeral do you go to? In my judgment, I think if I go to one I should go to all. How do you honor one person but not another?”

It would appear that the same would hold true for receiving the coffins at Dover. How do you honor one with receiving the coffin but not another? Couple that with there being absolutely no record of him ever having been to Dover to receive fallen soldiers and I'd say that the case for him not having been there becomes pretty solid. Outside of your little bubble, that is.

Of course, that's all conjecture on your part, and negative conjecture is par for the course. It's certainly not fact. Since a president goes few places alone, there are people who know if he went or not. It's not an unknown.

The fact of the matter is that there's no record of him ever having been to Dover to receive the coffin of any fallen service personnel. There would be had he gone, whether the media were invited or not.

There is a record of everywhere the president goes. Just because you don't know about doesn't mean it didn't happen. I just picked up a book written by a former Secret service officer. If there's something in there about it, I'll report back, but ignorance of a thing should never be deduced to be a fact.

Yes, the proof will be in the book you just picked up. And nobody has come across that yet. Good one. The response fits your MO - too predictable.

I have to agree. Politicians aren't exactly known for their strong moral compass (unless it's for good publicity).

I don't get what purpose is served by singling out Obama for contrived photo opportunities when it is part and parcel of political business. Its certainly the sort of thing that everyone expects politicians to do.

Apparently previous presidents were more "sincere" than Obama.

I don't get it either except that I think that there are some niaves on both sides of the aisle believe that 'their' side has the monopoly on political sincerity. They of course think that I am nothing but a cynic - which is partly true.

That said, I don't think absolutely every politician uses politics as a career tool but clearly some don't give a ###### about their constituents, and some only give a mild ######.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I don't know if this was directed at me, but I don't believe previous presidents were any more sincere than Obama. Politicians lie. That's what they do.

I can't see how that was aimed at you. Seems there is a consensus of opinion ;)

It's a conspiracy. They're out to get me. :alien:

Be afraid, be very afraid...especially tomorrow night :)
