On the G325A form, there is field on the top row entitled "File Number". This field is prefixed with the letter "A".

What are they asking for in this File Number field? Why is it prefixed with an "A"?

Also at the bottom of the form there is a box which says to fill in the Alien Registration number - and it is also prefixed with an "A".

It is my understanding that both the US Citizen and the Fiance are to fill out and sign their own G325A forms.

Both the US Citizen and the Foreign Fiance (assuming the fiance has never been to the USA) will likely NOT have an Alien Registration number.

Why are they asking for the Alien Registration Number at the bottom?

Also what do they mean when they say "File Number" at the top?

Thanks !

A number and file number are the alien registration number you'll get later on in the process. For now just put NONE!

My fiance has never been to India so she does not have an Alien Number.

However, I used to be a Green Card holder some time ago and had an Alien Number during the time I was a Green Card holder.

I am now a Naturalized US Citizen and so no longer am holding Green Card status.

Do I still need to put my old Alien Number into this box that I used to have when I was a Green Card holder? My thinking is that this number is obsolete because I no longer am an Alien, but am now a Citizen.

Thanks !

I would not put it down - doesn't hurt if you do though.
