After Intv. How long is visa valid before arriving in US?

Hi,

I know that once a fiance/fiancee (beneficiary) arrives in the US with a K1 visa, you must get married within three months.My question is, once the visa is granted to the beneficiary/fiance after the consulate intv. how long does the beneficiary have to come to the US, before the visa expires? It is six months? Or three months, plus the three that are allowed while in the US?

The process seems to be going faster than we expected, which is great. But my fiance has work commitments to complete before arriving in the US.

Approval of EAD: Sept. 30, 2010

Received EAD card: Oct. 4, 2010

AOS status updated, card in production: October 6, 2010

Received Green Card: October 10, 2010

6 months to leave and then 3 months to marry.

To clarify further: Leave within 6 months of visa date and then once they enter into the US, then 3 months in which to marry.

YOUR K1 Visa, you have 6 month from the day you receive your K1 Visa to enter into the USA.

Upon arrival, your I94 will be stamped with a date 3 month from then. you must get married before the I94 expires and file for AOS.

2/20/2009: NOA 1 Receipt Date

3/20/2009: NOA 2 Notice Approval Date

05/28/2009: Interview APPROVED

7/22/2009 --POE (LAX)-- We are together forever <3

I-129F Sent : 2008-03-05

I-129F NOA1 : 2008-03-20

NVC Received : 2008-05-29

NVC Left : 2008-06-05

Consulate Received : 2008-06

Packet 3 Received : 2008-06

Interview Date : 2008-08-25

August 25, 2008- Placed on A.P.

December 17, 2008- Petition Returned to USCIS for further review.

February 4, 2009- Received notice the USCIS has received returned petition.

July 10, 2009- NVC sent Reaffirmed petition back to U.S.Embassy, New Delhi.
