I would like to know if my fiance can get her vaccinations now or if she needs to wait until we get the NOA2. Does she need to wait because the NOA2 will provide a list of approved doctors to get the vaccinations from (or is this list only regarding the physical)? We would like to have as much documentation ready ASAP prior to the NOA2 arriving to quicken the time to the interview (but there is no point in getting the vaccinations now if they won't be acccepted).

I also want to confirm that based on her age 28...she will need the MMR, TD, and chickenpox vaccinations?

Thank you for your input.

K-1 doesn't require vaccination but once she is here she will need to get it done for Adjustment of Status, some people do it abroad because it's cheaper, for a list of the requirement, have a look at the I-683 instructions.

Though generally not required for K1, vaccination is mandatory for Bangkok consulate. My fiancée had to bring her medical exam results including vaccination record to her interview. It is fine to get them done early. For those that come in a series over several months it is only necessary to begin them for the visa. The remainder can be completed in USA. She can get a blood test to determine which she already has. Some, such as HPV, are age specific.

my now husband only had to get 2 shots (similar age to your fiancee) consider investigating what shots she may have had as a child and if you suspect she may have had them just get the blood test for antibodies. he also went early for his medical but that was over 2 years ago so not sure if anything has changed. you might want to look in the sub forums there is a thai specific thread called "sawasdee 3" where you can get information from people currently in process. also significantly less expensive to have the shots done in thailand unless you are able to add her to your insurance straightaway.

best of luck!

They require the entire series to be completed before the interview? That seems a bit extreme. If so thanks for the heads up, i'll have her go and speak to the hospital asap.

They do not require the entire series to be completed before the K1 interview. You simply need to start the series. You may even need to be current, but I can't remember.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

Hello Everyone,

My finace has his interview Feb 7th, 2010 and he just finished his medical exam. There are 3 vaccines that he still needs to get additional doses for. Will this pose and issue for his interview. He cannot not take the additional vaccines until Feb 9th.

The vaccine results are as follows: Vaccine History Incomplete: Applicant May be eligble for Blanket waiver because vaccination(s) not medically appropriate.

Should I be worried, or is this ok?

Thank you,

Cherrine

typically you are not required to fulfill the series prior to but i suggest you post this question in the MENA forum to get UAE specific answers from people with experience in the consulate you are dealing with to be certain.

good luck!

She can get vaccinations anytime. They are not needed for the interview but I suggest she gets all she needs for the AOS before she comes to the US andbefore her medical exam so they can be transcribed on the DS-3025. When is not imporant. My wife and sons had their vaccinations as children.

The Bangkok Embassy requires the vaccines to be started at the time of the interview for K1. All embassies have different requirements.

Just my two cents:

She can get her immunizations at her local clinic before her medical exam. It's probably going to be less expensive and possibly more convenient if she lives outside of Bangkok. She'll get a form showing which vaccines were received. Just take that from to the medical exam and it should be fine.

Also, the series don't have to be completed before the interview or arrival to the US, but it doesn't hurt to get it out of the way if you can.

Ok, so this is a bit of a bump, but she got MMR, dTP, and varicella for about 3000 baht today around 2000 for examination. I think these were the "required" ones for the embassy.

An additional note to Thailand VJers, the medical personnel at BNH utilize the 2007 forms and procedures. The fiance brought copies of the forms for them and was told that they don't use those. Also insisted on Varicella vaccination when those appear to no longer be required.
