Sorry if I'm being obtuse, but did you guys get asked for a police clearance? And what did you guys get? A paper from the local police department or something from NBI? I heard from someone about the latter being the right one but I wanted to make sure it was. My interview is this Friday and I don't want to mess up on just a single piece of paper.

Thanks.

Are you applying for K3?

If yes, you just need the NBI Clearance showing your wife's current name and all her previous name(s) (they call that an AKA notation).

No need for a police clearance, unless she has lived anywhere outside of the Philippines for 6 months or more since she was 16 years old.

Police clearance is only needed if you had stayed out of Philippines for more than 6 months. You should get one in the country (outside PI) where you stayed or worked. But if you never fly outside PI since birth then all you need is NBI clearance.

You can relax...you need a police clearance from Singapore if you lived there for 6 months or more. However you will have to mention that trip on your DS-157 form later.
