Hi everyone,

my husband and I have our GC interview in a few weeks and I was wondering if we needed his birth certificate.

He is the USC and we have a copy of his birth certificate but he got it more than a year ago.

Do we need a new birth certificate for him or could we use the bio page in his passport to prove US citizenship?

Thanks!

There is no time limit on a birth certificate, he could use it if it had been gotten 15 years ago. :D

What the pizzadude says is true about no time limit on Birth Cert.

Also, when we went in, I'm the petitioner, and the officer asked for my passport. I had only made copies of my birth certificate, but luckily I decided to bring the passport along. The officer then made a copy of the passport and I gave him the copy of my birth certificate also. He also took our interpreter's ID and made a copy of it. In our case, our interpreter was my sister.
