The Insurance Industry Report

Here is is.

The 26-page report warns that premiums would rise $4,000 for family coverage by 2019, and $1,500 for individuals.

The report is chock full of numbers, charts and conclusions about the Senate Finance Committee bill that could prove damaging unless Democrats push back aggressively. Democrats are hoping people will view this report as a hit job by an insurance industry trying to preserve its bottom line.

But Republicans will embrace it as an analysis by the well-known acounting firm PricewatershouseCoopers -- and use it as a counterbalance to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office analysis, which painted a far more favorable picture of the bill.

Among the conclusions, according to the report commissioned by America's Health Insurance Plans:

-- Health reform could have a significant impact on the cost of private health insurance coverage.

-- There are four provisions included in the Senate Finance Committee proposal that could increase private health insurance premiums above the levels projected under current law: Insurance market reforms coupled with a weak coverage requirement; a new tax on high-cost health care plans; cost-shifting as a result of cuts to Medicare; and new taxes on several health care sectors.

-- The overall impact of these provisions will be to increase the cost of private insurance coverage for individuals, families, and businesses above what these costs would be in the absence of reform.

Did anyone think the insurance industry maggots were gonna take this lying down?

Or, that they wouldn't lie, taking it down?

The insurance industry wouldn't lie to protect itself? Are you that naive, sir?

Was was the quote? "Statistics, more statistics, and damned statistics!"

Statistics is all about context.

But more importantly, what?

just socialize medicine and be done with it. If someone dies, fine...at least less will die with a system like that. Look at other countries who live longer. Our system is the most expensive in the world why? because of lobbyists and corruption

I still remembered the time in chemistry class when the professor said, "dihydrogen monoxide is very dangerous to the environment - all hazardous wastes contains them - they are by-products of chemical reactions - they cause many runoffs that can off-root trees, and cause hurricanes and natural disasters"

She asked the class, how many of you don't support dihydrogen monoxide. Everyone rose their hands. I was the only one who didn't. She gave me an A+ for the class.
