hi guys

I have an attorney but I have received more information from you guys than from my attorney. I am glad we have this place to talk. I would like to know something about i-130. I have received my I-130 receipt. What does the USCIS do once they receive the i-130. Do they do a background check on the USC (petitioner). I am the beneficiary - do they do any background check on me ? I will appreciate if you could answer.

Yes, they do background checks on you but unless you are a child molestor, have previous immigration fraud issues or are a terrorist, the results make no difference in whether the I-130 petition is approved. In short, you're proving you are a citizen, were both free to marry when you married and are actually married to the beneficiary. Petition approval is the first milestone, not an approved visa.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
