I was married abroad, but I would like to know what is the process to register my marriage here in the States?

Have it translated and notarized and bring it to the local city hall, there they will give you more instructions

this is what hubby did few months ago and has been told by them, just I didn't let him give them the original as we needed it for the visa process. but i know it has to be an original one. good luck

Not sure what city hall told your husband, I took mine from Italy down to them along with a certified translation and the clerk literally asked "what do you need me to do?" I said I need to register my marriage... The lady said, and I quote, "Don't know who told you ya had to do that, we don't do nothin with that here". I clarified if I needed to register and her and her supervisor said absolutly not... just keep a copy in case I ever got asked....
