Help with I-485! URGENT!

My husband came over on a K-1 visa. We got all the money together to apply for the I-485 however, looking at the instructions it is asking for the vaccination supplement. The issue is, when my husband came over to America, customs took his whole packet at the airport. We called customs asking for the information back and they said that they had given all his information to Immigration. We called Immigration and they told us to call a Civil Surgeon and they'd have the information requested. Now, I called a local Civil Surgeon and she said that they have no information on my husband's vaccinations and I'd need to call up customs / immigration (like I have already!). It's just an endless cycle and I need some help / advice because we REALLY can't afford to redo the whole Medical Examination! PLEASE HELP!

The vaccination supplement can be accomplished by the civil surgeon without the vaccination record from the medical. Previous vaccinations can be determined with a titre test and then any missing vaccinations can be administered.

Shouldn't be too expensive, depending on the shots he will need, anywhere from $50 to $200 I would say.

Rates are set by individual doctors. It will depend on the doctor you use. You may want to look into getting the test and/or vaccinations from the local health department. Where they are available from a government health department they are generally fairly inexpensive. Take the results to the civil surgeon to have them transcribed to the supplement. There is no requirement that the civil surgeon's office administer the vaccinations--just that they complete the supplement.

Does he have a copy of his list of vaccinations from his old doctor? if so get them, then call up this Doctor.

they will tell you what to do, you should not need to pay for a full exam, just the $30 for transciribing your husbands vaccination details onto the I-693.

You basically sign and date the forms and they do the rest.

I called them from california, they told me i needed a titer to prove i had had measles when i was young, i got it, sent off the info along with my vaccine info and they got the stuff back to me complete within 5 days.

Unfortunately he did not receive any copies from the doctor he saw in Australia. The embassy set up the appointment for him. All his information was in his packet that he gave to customs. He's been battling with them over the phone trying to get more information so we can avoid paying all these unnecessary fees!

Calling CBP is not going to get you the information... the brown envelope that is handed to the officer at POE is forwarded to USCIS and becomes your immigration file.

You would do better to contact the doctor who did his medical back home and see if they have a record of what vaccinations he was given, they may be able to provide you with a fax or letter that you can take to the Civil Surgeon. If there is no record of what he was given then you will either have to pay for the test to be done to show what he has had in the past or pay to have all the shots done again.

Either way you will have to pay for the Vaccination Supplement to be completed.

where in Australia was your husband living does he remember the doctors name?? i sent mine off without my vaccination record and stated that it was in the sealed envelope that i handed over at POE so far i havent had a RFE (fingers cross i dont) but in the meantime i was able to email the doctor who did my medical for the Visa and he sent me a list of what i had.

hope this helps, it seems silly to me, i think there should be a note made on the K1 info on VJ about obtaining a copy of your records coz it seems there is at least one question a day about this on here. some people dont look ahead while waiting for their visa we are just eager to get here to be with our S/O. anyway i wish you well on the rest of your journey.
