My fiance had her exam last week and passed, this site had me scared half to death about the TB/Sputnum.

I think it's probably much less common that it's made out to be here, my fiance said that all K-1 applicants passed that day with the exception of 3 that were on their period.

Oh my, it all sounds so complicated and painful. I only spent about 30 minutes max for day one and 10 minutes for day two at a small clinic here.

My daughter and i had our first day medical exam at st. Luke's today. We had the routine process. I will be posting my whole experience once we are done.

I only had a question, and hoping somebody could give me an answer. First day was done, and we were instructed to come back on wednesday, my baby had her TST, so they'll be reading it then. How about mine? The stamp at the back just shows the return schedule. Is everything ok then? (I do hope so)

== Yes, they will read the result of her skin test ( TST).

== You need to come back for your vaccination/s on the date stamped at the back of the receipt.

If your baby have a negative result, they will asked you to come back after 3 hours for her vaccination/s.

I guess you're medical examination is ok and nothing to worry.

Hello mga kababayan! I would like to share our experience (Me and my 4yr old daughter) when we had our medical examinations at St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic on April 15, 2013. For those who are coming from Pampanga, i hope you find this very helpful.

Here it goes:

This was my first time to go to St. Luke's and . So prior to going there, i browsed threads in visajourney to help me in the said exams.

First things first. What to bring/prepare?

  • Valid Passport
  • Photocopy of your passport ONLY the biographic page (make sure you use SHORT BOND PAPER for the copy or else they will ask you to go outside and have it recopied; must be in a VERTICAL position)
  • (3) pcs recent 2x2 pictures (white background, with collar, NO EARRINGS) SLEC staff are very strict with this one; bring more than 3 pcs in case you will need extra and write your name at the back using
  • Appointment letter
  • 2 photocopies of appointment letter
  • 2 copies of ONLINE registration (this saves you time, so dont forget to register online http://www.slec.ph/u...ation/index.php)
  • Baby Book or Immunization Record (for my baby)

Going at St. Luke's from Pampanga: We left 2am at home (we prefer commuting early in the morning). Together with me, my mom and my baby, we decided to ride at DAU bus terminal. Only few buses going to AVENIDA at that time, dont know why. And the buses were full. We were able to hopped in around 3:30am, with ONLY one seat available. So i had my mom occupy that seat and i seated in front, on a medium size box, near the driver. We dont have any clue on how to get to St. Luke's that's why we left early.

We reached AVENIDA terminal around 4:30am. We took the taxi, because we want to get there early. Before 5am, we were at St. Luke's already and there were already around 40 people waiting outside. They will instruct you to fall in line. Will be asked if it's your first time, for immunization, and for what country of destination. So we waited outside maintaining our line. Around 5:20am, the guard started to check papers and let people in. I handed our papers, the guard asked me how many of us will be having medical exam, i said two. He stamped our right forearm and handed back our papers stamping SLEC on one of the appointment letter which you will be asked to bring on interview date. He didnt allow my mom to get in, which is STUPID, and he said i can watch over my baby alone. I ADVISED you to insist if you have a child to bring with you. Processing will not be at the same time. We got #s 27 and 28. Waited at the ground floor. You can sit anywhere you want. By 6:15am, the counters in the reception started to open and accomodate applicants. Our #s were called by 6:45am. There will be separate lines for ONLINE-SENIOR, ONLINE, WALK-IN.

6:45am - We handed our papers, officer checked them. Asked few questions like who is the petitioner, when did the petitioner came to US and how many are about to take their medical exams on that day. Did index finger scanning 3 times. Digital photo taking was taken too. We took long on this counter, since the officer cannot take my daughter's index finger scanned. They tried it several times. And they DONT SMILE at me. My daughter NOTICED that, and when she was told "H'wag mo tigasan ang kamay mo" my 4yr old baby replied "Di ko naman alam pano h'wag tigasan"   which made the officer started to communicate THERAPEUTICALLY. And ended up NO fingers scanned for my baby. They did the same process to her as that of mine. After that, we were instructed to go to 5th floor for payment.

Elevators are available at the left side near the front door, but we took the stairs instead. Without complaints from my baby.

7:30am - we paid the necessary fees P9, 143.00 for me and P7, 585.00 for my baby. Handed us the receipts and was instructed to proceed at VITAL SIGNS TABLE. The nurse on that station took my BP, and was asked when was my LMP (last menstrual period). They took my baby's RR (Respiratory Rate) only. And was directed to the EYE Assessment room.

7:45am - we had our eye, height, weight assessment. KEEP your receipts with you for they will be asking that to you everytime. Then we were asked to wait till our names be called. Lengthy waiting starts here. Good thing i had some gadgets with me to keep my baby busy while waiting. I was able also to slipped a piece of cracker on my bag and a bottle of mineral water for my baby.

9:15am - our names were called. We were instructed to go the room on the right side for our physical exam. The lady doctor let us in and close the door. I was interviewed. She asked past history of diseases/condition, family health history, surgery done, GPTPAL (obstetrical history) and then asked to remove clothings (you need to be naked, dont worry there is a lab gown you can use. Same thing was done to my baby. Then we were directed to go to the 4th floor for blood extraction.

9:30am - i was called, and blood was extracted (for syphillis checking). Then instructed for urine collection at the other side of the area (pregnancy checking). We were then instructed to go to 3rd floor for chest xray. :wow: there are lot of people waiting in this area. We filled-out a piece of paper, something like a waiver i think. Waiting again.

10:25am - i was called. My baby was assisted at the counter's area since she cannot go with me at xray room. SOP will be observed in that area. Tip: Make sure to HOLD your breath when you are told to do so. :innocent: After that, we were instructed to go to 2nd floor for immunization interview. We handed our receipts and was told to come back by 1:30pm.

So we went out and took an early lunch. There are lots of restaurants and food chain outside and nearby.

11:45am - we decided to come back at the clinic, its so HOT outside. My mom was then came in with us. She watched over my baby and I was able to have a nap  while waiting at the 2nd floor.

12:45noon - our names were called for immunization interview. The physician is very strict with regards to baby book. Make sure that EACH vaccine given to your baby is well dated and signed. Instructed us to have the immunization record page photocopied 2 times and bring it on the follow up date. My baby had TST and was instructed to come back on April 17 (wednesday) for TST reading at 12:53pm. So we're done for the 1st day.

My mom was able to asked somebody when she was waiting outside on how to get to places from that area. So we took a walk, passed by the NBI and crossed that street to get to the LRT station. We rode the LRT and stepped out to Doroteo Jose. Just below the LRT is the bus station. We took the Philippine Rabbit, for it will get us to Angeles City. End of first day.

Day 2: April 17, 2013 (Wednesday)

We decided to go early morning commuting so we can explore the roads going to St. Luke's for future purposes   .

We left 3am and got at AVENIDA around 4:30am. LRT starts to operate at 5am. So we asked the guard what to ride going to NBI. He told us to take a jeepney going to Baclaran. And we did. We told the driver to drop us at NBI. This saved us a lot from P150 taxi to P8 jeepney fare. When we got to NBI, we walked up to St. Luke's. As usual, people were already there waiting for the clinic to be opened. We were told by the guard that we need to follow the schedule on the receipt. So we took breakfast first. Walk within nearby areas, and ended up to Baclaran. We visited the church (prayed for a ok result). Took pictures and went to tiangge. Around 10am, we took again early lunch and decided to go back to the clinic. We rode LRT and got off at United Nations. Going down is the NBI. We were able to get familiarized with some places there. Got to the clinic around 11am. The guard let us in. The next guard near the stairs, asked for our receipts. He checked my name on the computer, and YIPPEEEEY! FOR IMMUNIZATION! I was relieved! Thank you GOD! Then he told us that he will just hand our receipts at the 2nd floor, instructed us to wait at the ground floor till our name be called.

WAITING!!!

1:50pm - baby's name called. We went to the 2nd floor and had her tst reading. Negative result (0 mm induration). The physician asked for the photocopies of immunization record (put your baby's name on top of the paper), so i gave them to her. She asked for the baby book to double check. Then she instructed us to wait outside for they need to evaluate the needed vaccines for my baby.

3:00pm - i was called. I was directed to the immunization room. They gave me 3 shots (MMR, Varicella, DTP). Then was told to wait at ground floor. I decided to wait at 2nd floor and wait for my baby's name to be called. Anyways, they will be using a centralized microphone, where you can hear if your name will be called whever floor you are.

3:30pm - i was called at ground floor counter A. The officer instructed me to sign 3 pieces of paper and he asked for my passport. Then told to wait to be called again. So i went back to 2nd floor.

4:30pm - baby was called. She had 5 shots :o. They did not honor some vaccines due to some minor iconsistencies and time intervals. Anyways, they will give all shots for free so nothing to worry about. Though it was a terrible day for my baby. :crying: After which we were told to wait again. This time we chose to wait at the ground floor.

4:45pm - my name was called. Proceeded to counter E and the officer verified information, asked for 2 pcs 2x2 pictures then she handed me the cd xray (told me that i should not open it, i will need to bring it to the US), the immunization record and my passport. IM DONE!

5:10pm - baby's name called. Handed my baby's passport to the officer at counter A. Signed in behalf of my baby. Then instructed to wait AGAIN for the releasing.

6:30pm - Finally! Baby's called. 2x2 pictures were asked and additional ONE 2x2 picture was collected since my baby's picture on the her passport was taken when she was still 1 yr old. The officer told me that they need to attached the new picture to the copy of the passport. She handed me the immunization record and the passport. DONE!

Time to go home! So that was our experience on our Medical Examinations.

Just to clarify... SLEC no longer keep our passports after the medical exam, right? We are to bring it to the US Embassy during our interview instead of SLEC forwaring it to USEM?

Just to clarify... SLEC no longer keep our passports after the medical exam, right? We are to bring it to the US Embassy during our interview instead of SLEC forwaring it to USEM?

Yes. This is part of the changes made prior to Interview. The applicant's passport/s will be returned to them during the releasing of their medical results together with the xray cd (if underwent xray), immunization record which must be brought to the US. Make sure to bring necessary documents when attending interview plus the appointment letter duly stamped by the SLEC.
