you can get your tax transcripts by going to your local IRS office, it's much faster than calling and waiting for 10 to 15 days. You can make an appointment but walk-ins are always welcome. I was in and out with my trancripts in less than one hour. Here's the link where you can find your local IRS office and the services they offer. http://www.irs.gov/localcontacts/index.html

Good luck

Yeah, and by the way they are free!

OK, I got the RFE letter today. And of course my worst nightmares came true. They were not satisfied with our I-864. The problem is my lovely husband keeps all of his documents in a complete MESS  It took me almost two weeks to go through all of the boxes with bills/documents/letters to try to find any tax related documents. I guess I did not find all of them

What they need is for us to send them all federal income tax documentation submitted to IRS for year 2008. Which I did in fact (well at least all I could find in my hubby's mess). I guess USCIS is not happy with what I've sent, therefore just to be on a safe side I think I'm going to request IRS transcript from IRS, which takes two weeks to deliver (according to IRS website). I'll have my husband call them on Monday to make a request. I wish it was a weekday today!

Another thing USCIS requests is a letter of employment and paystubs from my husband's work. His income has doubled comparing to the previous year. I guess USCIS just want to see the proof that we're not lying. Oh well we'll get them what they need.

Basically, everything they are not happy with is possible to fix, I'm just upset that I will have to lose about 3 weeks of time now :crying: I'm very anxious to go home, I haven't seen my family since February 2009, and looks like it's going to be at least 3 more months of waiting :crying:

I'm sorry to hear your case will be pushed back a few weeks. At least everything they requested is fixable though!! I'm sure we'll get some sort of RFE for something at some point.

It shouldn't take too long to get your tax transcripts. My hubby requested his over the phone and they arrived in about 1 week

One tiny little detail, I didn't want you to make the one drive for nothing:) If you're talking about your hubby's tax return then he should be present at the IRS office with his ID and social security card, they wouldn't just give them to anybody that asks:) unless you are also on the tax return.

Unfortunately you have to wait 30 days from when you received your NOA1 letter in order for them to do anything about it. Hopefully you will receive it by Nov 14th! We are waiting for my hubby's bio letter as well

Hi all!

My RFE letter arrived this morning. It was requesting proof that our joint sponsor is a US citizen. We forgot to include her birth certificate.

At least it is only one small thing. Sweetanastasia, I know how you feel. It's resolvable but it is just annoying that our case is frozen until we send this back.

km24, any luck with biometrics yet? It may be that your local office is really busy, or really slow.

Hm I didn't know bio letters come from the local offices. So does that mean our package is sitting in Philly right now? lol

hey rebecca,

i don't think the letters come from local offices but we go to biometrics at the local office so i figure how long we wait is based on how busy they are. i.e: you might wait longer for philadelphia than manchester NH. but then i guess more people work at phila too.

i would love it if my papers were in NH right now. unfortunately, i'm pretty sure they're still in missouri. that is long way away. :(

luckykaren - good luck with your RFE, it's nerve racking waiting for the letter but i'm sure it will be fixable. i've had 2 so far, i'm not so lucky, lol.

Hi guys,

I've added a column to the spreadsheet for your local ASC office (where you will take the biometrics).

I was able to pick some of them up from your timeline or posts. But missing others. Please review them and let me know if there are corrections or additions.

@ luckykaren, sorry about the RFE. Just send back whatever they want. Hopefully easy.

@ Rebecca, the bio letters get mailed out from Lee's Summit, MO. I think they must just coordinate the timing of the bio appt with the local ASC office.

Thanks, hudons and Greg001! Like lots of other members here in VJ, I gathered all the dox by myself without lawyer's advice nor help so I guess RFE can happen. It would be nicer if I don't get any of RFE though..lol. Hopelly i can send back the doxs whatever it's requested and move forward quickly. Phew..
